Autumn workshop for SCC members – Navigating conflicting waters: How to recognize and resolve conflicts of interest in practice
We have completed a two-day autumn workshop, the topic of which was Navigating conflicting waters: How to recognize and resolve conflicts of interest in practice. We met again with our members in the popular Bojnice in Meridiana pension and there were 35 of us at the workshop!
During the first day, we discussed the issue of conflict of interests in private companies. What did we say?
- Conflict of interests is not only a labor-law problem.
- What options does the Compliance officer have as part of checking and preventing conflicts of interest.
- What legislation solves individual conflict situations and which aspects need to be considered when creating Compliance standards.
- We tackled a case study and joint brainstorming together led us to several conclusions and insights.
- How complex is the topic of conflict of interests and what risks it poses for effective company management.
Together we looked at the conflict of interests from the perspective of lawyers, compliance officers and auditors. This led to a very interesting discussion!
The case study, for which we were divided into 4 working groups, was very creative. In the tangle of various connections between characters and companies, we determined the types of conflict of interest, evaluated situations that are a conflict of interest, assessed the ethical actions of the characters and prepared an action plan to prevent the conflict of interest.
At the end of the first day, we competed as a team in mixing drinks and had fun talking.
The second day was devoted mainly to SCC internal topics, where we brainstormed on the topics of the 10th annual conference and planned activities for the next period.
During the entire workshop, we had dynamic discussions and there were several new members at the workshop who were very actively involved in the discussions. The opinions, experiences and questions of the participants enriched the entire course of the workshop and we believe that everyone took away new knowledge and inspiration.
We are very happy that we have the opportunity to spend pleasant time with you, our members, during work and leisure activities.
We thank everyone for their time and interest, and we look forward to further joint activities.
