This year, for the fourth time, the conference was under the patronage of the President of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Andrej Kiska. The conference was attended by almost 140 participants. The representation of participants this year was diverse, from representatives of large multinational companies, through small and medium-sized enterprises to owners of small companies. The main topics of the conference were:
- Innovation vs regulation in business – we manage modern compliance
- We look to the future – innovation in compliance, compliance in innovation
- Technologies and innovations – blockchain and crypromains
- Different views on AML – AML not only for banks, AML and technology, national risk assessment, RPVS
- GDPR as a challenge for innovation, we build data governance
- Corporate investigation
- From compliance to intergrite – compliance with standards is not enough
- Ethics and social responsibility
During two days, 29 speakers and moderators contributed interesting knowledge on selected topics. The speakers also included representatives of successful Slovak innovative companies.
The first day of the conference was dedicated to innovation versus business regulation. The main speaker of the conference was Ronald Blaško, Executive Director of AmCham, who opened the conference with an interesting lecture on the birth of new ideas. Following the introductory speech, we talked about how companies today deal with the risks of the modern and rapidly changing world, as well as with new technologies that affect us. An interesting panel discussion with members of the SCC Board of Directors, during which many questions were answered on current compliance topics. In the afternoon blocks, we focused on technology and innovation, innovation in GDPR and AML and various perspectives on it. An amendment to the Act on the Register of Public Sector Partners was also amended. The official program was followed by a tasting of KRAL STEFFANUS wine in the Old Town of Bratislava. More than 40 participants took part in the tasting. During the informal evening program, not only compliance topics were discussed.
The second day of the conference was about social responsibility, from compliance to integrity, we talked about fair and ethical business and the introduction of compliance values - how to do it, why to do it. Lectures on internal experience with the creation and application of codes of ethics from various business segments were a great contribution. The second day was also enriched by panel discussions on ethical business and the application of social values. In addition to multinational corporations, Slovak medium-sized companies, non-profit organizations and the academic sector also presented a view on the ethical behavior of companies. Different views on this topic have interestingly enriched the conference program. The parallel afternoon block on corporate investigation attracted half of the auditorium, where selected topics were discussed, such as support in law, reasons, basic principles, subjects, authorizations of corporate investigation and its limits, suggestions and others. In conclusion, a successful company today is built on the foundations of transparent and ethical business, with the main motive, which connects all the mentioned topics, is trust.
We believe that you liked the conference and moved the topic of compliance to new horizons. We believe that the community we create, we built it meaningfully. Thanks to everyone who participated and contributed their questions to an excellent discussion.
We are already looking forward to Slovak Compliance Days 2019 and we will be looking for inspiring topics and interesting speakers for you.
